Ricky has a multidisciplinary background in Satellite Physics and Entrepreneurship and is a Masters Graduate of University of Surrey, UK in Physics (MPhys) with Satellite technology.
Prior to joining Clutch Space he worked for Airbus Defence & Space as Spacecraft Test Facility Business Developer, simultaneously working on 2 spacecraft testing departments – Environmental Testing (EVT) and Structural Testing Facility (SSTF). He is technically capable of leading sales and engineering conversations with potential customers and internal engineers, having developed a framework for generating external work for EVT & SSTF based on internal investigations on previous generated work and was responsible for the market research, marketing plan and strategy for Airbus’ Stevenage test facilities.
Prior to this he worked as Business Development Manager in the software company CommuniGator, where he was responsible for generating high quality leads through channels such as LinkedIn, Cold Calling and attending Marketing Seminars. He has been a research student in Nuclear Testing at National Physical Laboratory, where he specialised in α-particle spectroscopy techniques, conducted research and developed a system to detect α-particles emitted from a radioactive source using conventional DSLR digital sensors. The specialised camera was used to determine the distribution of activity across disc sources for NPL’s Defined Solid Angle alpha spectrometer.
His interest in entrepreneurship has enabled various pitching activities including TechStars Powering Space – 2nd Runners up in a Google Sponsored Start-up event where the vision of the team was to deliver power to other spacecraft wirelessly in space. He has also represented University of Surrey in an entrepreneurial start-up event, developing a product from idea to prototype in 3 days
His charity interests include crowdfunding projects to raise money for underprivileged children in Bangladesh using ‘GoFundMe’ and he has worked with BBC presenter Prof. Jim Al-Khalili to raise money for Shooting Start Chase Charity
